Mezzo-soprano Isabelle Druet, accompanied by Le Poème Harmonique, takes us back to the Folies d?Espagne and the festive spirit of Baroque Paris. Dancing in France was at its best in the 17th century. Would it have been the same without our Iberian neighbors?
Le Poème Harmonique continues its Spanish journey in a festive vein. Vincent Dumestre combines guitar and vocals with a rich array of percussion, adding new sounds to his secret discoveries. Sanguine passions, bitter laments and rousing harangues come to life over dance rhythms, recalling Spain?s place in court ballets under Louis XIV, and the French infatuation with Iberian fever.
