The Sélune, a river much appreciated by fishermen, particularly for the presence of Atlantic salmon, has enabled the Ardennes wood to develop on land that is sometimes flooded. Passerines such as the crested tit, the creeper, the kinglet and the warbler enliven the undergrowth with their discreet songs, while the drumming of the woodpeckers that frequent the site (great spotted, great spotted, pileated and green woodpeckers) seem to punctuate the lapping of the river. The oak and beech forests and birch coppices that make up this remnant alluvial forest.
