Located in the Mortain area, this peat bog is fed by two streams: the Boutron and the Mouton, which flow into the Cance a few kilometers upstream of Mortain, then into the Sélune. This area is made up of agricultural land surrounding low-lying areas where plant formations of interest are concentrated: swampy willow groves, alder groves, open peaty zones home to remarkable species such as Cranberry, sheathed cottongrass and bone-breaking ossifrage.
