In the Middle Ages, Mortain belonged to Count Robert, half-brother of the Conqueror. Its monuments were spared during a terrible battle in 1944.
As the gateway to the Normandie-Maine park, Mortain offers a rich and varied landscape: waterfalls, hedged farmland, views as far as Mont St-Michel, and rock climbing.
At the crossroads of the voie verte, the GR22, the Chemins de Saint Michel and numerous circuits, a swimming pool and a go-karting center complete the range of leisure activities on offer.
